EDUCATIONAL DESCRIPTION

Camping Madness takes players to the fantasy world of the Forest of a Thousand Acorns. Novice and expert campers will have great fun facing zany challenges adapted to their learning level.

The hot chocolate game calls upon players’ logical reasoning and their ability to act fast. Making S’mores will hone their skill at memorizing and recreating the perfect recipe. The picnic challenge requires players to be attentive to the acorns on their plate. Each challenge gives players the opportunity to add one or more marshmallows to the large cup of hot chocolate and win the game!

POSSIBLE APPROACHES:

Once again, here is a game that offers a great deal of flexibility in how to develop executive functioning skills in a fun-filled learning context, from preschool up to 3rd cycle. With younger children, it is also possible to increase their tallying skills while counting and placing marshmallows in the large cup of hot chocolate. The different levels of play allow teachers to tailor challenges to each student’s ability by choosing the challenges to face beforehand. By intervening in a child’s zone of proximal development, the child experiences success while making progress with learning. Similarly, the S’mores and picnic challenges offer a fine pedagogical opportunity to teach by modeling efficient mnemonic strategies that allow children to memorize larger amounts of information.
